Drupal Video is a very powerful way of adding content to your website. Not only does it allow you to share information with a large group of people but the content you are sharing can also easily be rated and changed.
In this article, we will talk about some of our recent experiences with Drupal Video and why it can be a great addition to your website.
Our last few blog postings have been focusing quite a bit on what great Drupal sites look like as well as the different customizable modules that make these sites great. However, there is another module that we have yet to mention which can be a very effective form of communication on your website. This module is known as Drupal Video.
Drupal Video allows a user to slot a place into their website where their videos or videos created by others can be shared.
In addition to the videos that a user puts up, Drupal allows the user to put up sections for: comments, voting, RSS feeds, and subscriptions. This not only helps in getting the videos out to a larger audience but also to get feedback on what viewers think of your content.
The great thing about Drupal video is that the videos do not have to be a stand-alone item but rather can be a built – in module to a bigger site. We have used this video module in a few of our recent sites including the Asia Pacific Foundation and Dish Jeans.
For the Asia Pacific Foundation, our team used Drupal Video to display the different news and events taking place within the APF. The videos also included interviews within different members of the APF to hear their thoughts and opinions.
While these videos were built into modules in Drupal, the videos were hosted through a site calledVimeo which integrates well with Drupal and makes it easy for the person posting videos to upload content whenever they want. It also allowed for the video content to be stored on a server other than the APF’s website which means that the videos will load faster for viewers.

On the Dish Jeans website, the video postings served as an extension of the brands advertising. You can see the different places Dish Jeans have been displayed and also read full news articles in the blog section beside the video.

Drupal Video is a great way of creating another level of interaction on your website. Whether it is to express an opinion or advertise a brand, Drupal Video allows the user to connect on a website in a different way. It is definitely a great module to work with and certainly one that Tidal considers a valuable asset to include with our clients.
